This experimental sketchbook workshop focuses on material exploration, experimentation and learning from the process of creating rather than the outcome. It is a great starting point for those wanting to explore their creativity, as well as those looking to expand their creativity and knowledge of mediums, or overcome a creativity block. This workshop is aimed at adults; however, if you are 16 years or older, you are more than welcome to attend! It is suitable for beginners or those with minimal experience, through to the more experienced who would love to learn some new techniques and be inspired by others creativity.

About the Experience:

Over the 3 hour workshop you will learn how to create a mini sketchbook from a piece of quality watercolour paper, the perfect portable size ready for creative exploration. You will explore colour, texture, pattern, shape and line and gain knowledge of the Elements & Principles of Art, and how they can assist you in your art making. You will be guided by the experienced artist and art teacher through experiments with a wide range of art mediums and processes such as collage, watercolour, oil pastels, Gouache, poscas, fine liners, brush pens, alcohol markers and more. Through the artworks created in the spirit of exploration, you will discover new things, gain ideas and skills, and understand that art is a continuoes series of mistakes.

Details:

o You will learn how to create your own mini one page sketchbook.

o You will aquire knowledge on the elements and principles of art, and how they can be referenced in the creation of artworks.

o You will have access to a large range of art mediums and learn different art processes.

o By engaging in creative exploration, you will discover techniques to alleviate the expectations and self-imposed pressure we often place upon ourselves.

o You will use your new knowledge to create a variety of small, experimental artworks that can be used to inspire further works away from the studio.

Finer Details:

o All materials are included, including aprons. This workshop does not require participants to bring anything, although feel free to bring any images or items that you connect with (macro images are great!), these can also just be on your phone, paper, collage materials or maybe you have a book that you really love!

o Light refreshments will compliment your experience.

o The workshop is held at Mark Makers Art Studio, Tewantin.

o Parking is plentiful in the carpark at the rear of the Tewantin Plaza, off Doonella st (there is a 2hr parking limit)

o The studio is wheelchair accessible.

o A maximum of 8 participants ensures individual support and fosters a sense of community within the group; a minimum on 3 is required.

o A deposit will secure your place in the workshop; this is only refundable or transferrable if the workshop is cancelled due to teacher illness, etc.

o If only the deposit is paid upon booking, please ensure the remainder is paid before the workshop date. If payment is not received, unfortunately your place may be passed on to someone on the waiting list.
