‘Experimental Art - Flora’ - Workshop
EXPERIMENTAL ART – FLORA
A mixed media workshop inspired by the patterns, textures and details of nature.
Created especially for Noosa Open Studios, this workshop is led by local artist Lucy Laino, whose work explores the intricate patterns and textures found in Australian flora through drawing, mark making and mixed media. Working in a small group, you'll gain insight into her creative process while experimenting with a wide range of materials in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Slow down, look closer and discover inspiration in the natural world.
Working from reference imagery, botanical specimens and your own observations, we'll examine flora on a macro scale, uncovering the patterns, textures and forms that often go unnoticed. Rather than focusing on creating a perfect finished artwork, this workshop encourages curiosity, experimentation and creative play.
Throughout the session you'll explore layering, composition and mark making using watercolour, acrylic, ink, POSCA, fineliners, gel pens, oil pastels, soft pastels, collage and more.
Whether you're completely new to art or looking to loosen up your existing practice, you'll leave with new ideas, techniques and plenty of inspiration to continue exploring at home.
