Workshop: Hand-building Clay

Explore the tactile world of clay in this 2.5hr hand-building workshop. You will be introduced to the basics of making pottery by hand without the need for a wheel. This workshop is aimed at adults; however, if you are 16 years or older, you are more than welcome to attend! Designed for beginners or those with minimal experience, or those just wanting to enjoy some clay play.

Bookings are essential as places are strictly limited.

About the Experience:

Through a teacher-led demonstration, you will discover the fundamentals of clay sculpting techniques, such as pinching, slab building, hand forming, and joining, and familiarise yourself with a variety of clay tools. With these techniques in mind, you will plan your ceramic project and can either choose to be guided by the experienced teacher or devise your own unique creation.

Whether you are drawn to functional pieces like pots, bowls, or vases, or you lean towards purely sculptural forms, this workshop will lead you through the process of translating your 2D designs into 3D objects. Under the guidance of an experienced artist and art teacher, our small group setting ensures a calm and personalised approach to your creative experience.

Following the workshop, your creations will find a temporary home at the Cooroy Butter Factory for drying and firing, with the opportunity to collect your artwork approximately three weeks later.
