Introduction To Gelli Printing
Gelli Printing Workshop (Adults)
Saturday 24th January,
9am - 12pm
This relaxed, hands-on workshop introduces participants to gelli plate printing — a playful and accessible printmaking process that produces beautifully layered, one-of-a-kind prints.
Gelli printing sits somewhere between drawing, painting and printmaking. It’s intuitive, experimental, and ideal for anyone wanting to loosen up, explore colour and texture, or try something new without the pressure of getting it “right”.
After a guided demonstration, you’ll explore a range of gelli printing techniques using acrylic paint, stencils, textures and everyday found objects. We’ll also look at simple image transfer techniques using magazine imagery, and how layering can transform a print over time.
There is a strong focus on process over perfection, with plenty of time to experiment, play, and follow your curiosity. As the session progresses, you’ll build confidence while developing an understanding of colour, pattern, shape and composition.
Participants will create a small series of unique prints on paper and other surfaces. Finished works can be taken home ready to frame, use in an art journal, as wrapping paper, or as a starting point for future projects.
No prior printmaking experience is required. This workshop is suitable for beginners and for those wanting to reconnect with their creativity in a calm, supportive studio environment.
Small group numbers allow for individual guidance while also fostering a relaxed, social atmosphere in the studio.
